How TaskForce Payments and Refunds Work
By TaskForce · · 2 min read
Where your money sits while a job is done, how you get paid or refunded, and what happens if a job is cancelled.
Paying a stranger for work you have not seen yet is the biggest worry for anyone hiring online. TaskForce is built so that you never have to hand money directly to a contractor: payment goes through a secure gateway, is held while the work is done, and is only released to the contractor once the job is complete.
How a payment moves
- You accept a contractor's offer and pay by card. The payment is processed by WebXPay with 3D Secure verification, so your bank asks you to confirm it with an OTP.
- The job becomes Assigned and the funds are held by the platform.
- The contractor does the work and marks it done.
- You confirm, or the 48-hour review window passes, and the job is Completed.
- The contractor's earnings are included in their next weekly payout.
TaskForce never stores your card details itself. Cards you choose to save are tokenised by the payment gateway.
About service fees
Posting a job and sending offers is free. TaskForce charges a service fee on jobs that are successfully completed, and the applicable fee is clearly shown before you confirm a bid or accept an offer. Full details are in our Terms & Conditions.
Refunds if a job is cancelled
Refunds depend on how long ago you paid and are returned to the card you used.
| When you cancel | What you get back |
|---|---|
| No payment made yet (job still Open) | Nothing to refund, the job is simply cancelled |
| Within 24 hours of paying, before work has started | An automatic refund of the amount paid, minus the LKR 150 gateway processing fee. TaskForce's service fee is not charged |
| After 24 hours, or once work has started | Not automatic. TaskForce helps both sides reach a fair resolution, and unresolved cases can go to a formal dispute |
Refunds go back to the card you used. They typically take several working days to appear on your statement, depending on your bank. If a refund ever fails at the gateway, our team can retry it or process it manually.
If the contractor cancels
If a contractor cancels a job after being assigned, your payment is refunded and the contractor receives a penalty that is deducted from their future earnings. Contractors who cancel repeatedly are flagged for review by our team.
